These adorable mummy pigs in a blanket are made with just three ingredients and ready in 20 minutes. Perfect for Halloween parties, they feature flaky crescent roll wrappers, savory cocktail sausages, and cute mustard eyes that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (Pillsbury Original recommended)
  • 24 cocktail sausages or mini hot dogs (Lit’l Smokies recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard (French’s recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing)
  • Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
  • Chives or green onion tops, finely chopped (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Open the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. If using the sheet version, unroll it. You should have 8 triangles or one large rectangle.
  3. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 long strips, about 1/2 inch wide. A pizza cutter works best. You should end up with 24 strips total.
  4. Take one cocktail sausage and place it at the wide end of one dough strip. Start wrapping the strip around the sausage, overlapping slightly as you go. Leave a small gap about 1/4 inch wide near the top of the sausage for the eyes (the face).
  5. Place the wrapped sausage on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down. Repeat with remaining sausages and dough strips, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. Brush the tops with melted butter if using. This gives a golden color and helps seasoning stick.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up. The sausages should be heated through.
  8. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet before adding the mustard eyes.
  9. While cooling, put about 1 tablespoon of mustard in a small bowl. Dip the tip of a toothpick into the mustard, then dot two small eyes onto the exposed sausage at the top of each mummy. Vary eye sizes for personality.
  10. Let the mustard set for about 2 minutes before serving to prevent smudging.

Notes

For best results, let the mummies cool for 2-3 minutes before adding mustard eyes to prevent melting. Use a toothpick for precise eye placement. You can assemble the mummies (without eyes) up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate. For extra crispy pastry, brush with egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water) instead of butter. Freeze unbaked mummies (without eyes) for up to 3 months; bake from frozen, adding 2-3 minutes.
