This crockpot peppermint white hot chocolate is the kind of drink that makes you slow down and actually enjoy the moment. Creamy, rich, with that cool peppermint kick, it’s the easiest hot chocolate you’ll ever make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 3 cups white chocolate chips (recommended: Ghirardelli or Guittard)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies (for garnish)
  • Whipped cream (for topping, optional)
  • Mini marshmallows (for topping, optional)
  • Peppermint sticks or candy canes (for stirring, optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the milk and cream: Pour the 6 cups of whole milk and 2 cups of heavy cream into your crockpot. Give it a quick stir to combine.
  2. Add the white chocolate chips: Pour in the 3 cups of white chocolate chips. Don’t stir yet — just let them sit on top.
  3. Add the vanilla and salt: Stir in the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and the 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  4. Set the crockpot to low: Cover and cook on low for 2 hours. Do not use high heat.
  5. Stir after 1 hour: About halfway through, give everything a good stir. The white chocolate should be mostly melted by now.
  6. Add the peppermint extract: After 2 hours, stir in the 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract. Taste and add more if desired.
  7. Whisk until smooth: Give it a final whisk to make sure everything is fully combined.
  8. Switch to warm setting: If not serving right away, switch the crockpot to the warm setting.
  9. Serve and garnish: Ladle into mugs. Top with whipped cream, crushed peppermint candies, and a mini marshmallow or two. Use peppermint sticks as stirrers if desired.

Notes

Use good quality white chocolate chips like Ghirardelli or Guittard for best results. Don’t rush the heat — always use low setting to prevent scorching. Taste peppermint extract before adding more as it is potent. Crush peppermint candies right before serving to prevent clumping. For a dairy-free version, use oat milk and full-fat coconut cream with dairy-free white chocolate chips.
