This Sparkling Cranberry Ginger Punch is the perfect holiday drink—tart, warm, fizzy, and made with real ingredients. It comes together in under 10 minutes and is a crowd-pleaser that even punch skeptics love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) 100% pure cranberry juice (unsweetened)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated (about a 2-inch piece)
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) pure maple syrup
  • 3 cups (720 ml) chilled sparkling water (plain or lightly flavored)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) freshly squeezed orange juice (about 2–3 oranges)
  • 1 whole cinnamon stick
  • ½ cup (60 g) fresh cranberries (for garnish)
  • 4–5 thin orange slices (for garnish)
  • 2–3 fresh rosemary sprigs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ginger Syrup (5 minutes): In a small saucepan, combine the grated fresh ginger, maple syrup, and ½ cup (120 ml) of water. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes until the ginger is fragrant and the syrup has thickened slightly. Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  2. Strain the Syrup (2 minutes): Pour the ginger syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a small bowl, pressing on the ginger solids to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids. Set aside to cool completely.
  3. Combine the Base (3 minutes): In a large pitcher or punch bowl, pour the cranberry juice and freshly squeezed orange juice. Add the cooled ginger syrup and stir well with a wooden spoon. Drop in the whole cinnamon stick. The base can be covered and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
  4. Chill Everything (30 minutes to overnight): For the best results, chill the juice base for at least 30 minutes before serving. Making the base a day ahead allows the flavors to meld and deepen.
  5. Add the Sparkle (Right before serving): When ready to serve, remove the cinnamon stick (or leave it in for visual appeal). Slowly pour in the chilled sparkling water, stirring gently to combine. Do not stir too vigorously to preserve the bubbles.
  6. Garnish and Serve (5 minutes): Add the fresh cranberries, orange slices, and rosemary sprigs to the pitcher or punch bowl. If using ice, add it now. For a party, freeze some cranberries and orange slices in an ice ring to keep the punch cold without diluting it.
  7. Pour and Enjoy: Ladle or pour into glasses over ice if desired. The punch should be beautifully ruby-red with floating cranberries and citrus slices.

Notes

Don’t skip the ginger syrup step—it softens the heat of the ginger and creates a smooth flavor. Everything should be well-chilled before adding sparkling water to preserve carbonation. Make an ice ring with cranberries and orange slices for a stunning presentation that doesn’t dilute the punch. Taste the base and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired. Add sparkling water at the last minute to keep it fizzy.
