This quick lemon garlic salmon with asparagus is a one-pan wonder that comes together in under 20 minutes. Perfect for busy weeknights, it features flaky salmon, tender-crisp asparagus, and a bright lemon garlic sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus (about 1 pound)
  • 2 large lemons (zest and juice)
  • 45 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Let salmon sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. Pat fillets dry with paper towels.
  2. Rinse asparagus and snap off woody ends.
  3. Season salmon fillets generously with salt and pepper. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil and rub in gently.
  4. In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside 1 tablespoon for later.
  5. Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat with remaining olive oil until shimmering.
  6. Place salmon skin-side down in hot skillet. Cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until skin is golden and crispy.
  7. Tuck asparagus spears around salmon. Drizzle remaining lemon garlic mixture over asparagus and toss gently. Season asparagus with salt.
  8. Transfer skillet to preheated oven. Roast for 8-10 minutes until salmon is opaque and flakes easily, and asparagus is tender-crisp.
  9. Remove skillet from oven. Dot salmon with butter and let melt. Drizzle reserved lemon garlic mixture over everything. Squeeze extra lemon juice if desired.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon slices. Serve straight from the skillet or transfer to a platter.

Notes

Pat salmon dry for best sear. Mix garlic with lemon juice to prevent burning. Let salmon rest 2-3 minutes after cooking. For thin asparagus, add to skillet 2 minutes after searing salmon.
