These Easy Holiday Antipasto Skewers are a quick and impressive appetizer that comes together in under 20 minutes. Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls (BelGioioso or Galbani recommended)
  • 4 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto (Di Bruno or Boar’s Head recommended)
  • 1 cup marinated artichoke hearts, drained and halved if large
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (mixed colors)
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves (medium-sized)
  • Wooden toothpicks or short skewers (about 4 inches long)
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Make the balsamic glaze: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine balsamic vinegar, honey, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes if using. Bring to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Prepare the ingredients: Pat mozzarella pearls dry with paper towels. Halve any large artichoke hearts. Wash and dry cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. If prosciutto slices are very long, cut them in half crosswise.
  3. Assemble the skewers: Thread ingredients onto toothpicks in this order: basil leaf, mozzarella pearl, prosciutto folded into a ribbon, artichoke heart piece, cherry tomato.
  4. Arrange on a platter: Place assembled skewers on a serving platter in concentric circles or desired pattern.
  5. Drizzle with glaze: Just before serving, drizzle cooled balsamic glaze over skewers or serve on the side for dipping.

Notes

For best results, pat mozzarella dry to help glaze adhere. Fold prosciutto into a loose ribbon rather than bunching. Use room temperature ingredients for optimal texture. Make ahead by assembling skewers without glaze; add glaze just before serving to prevent basil from wilting. Double the glaze recipe for extra.
