These spooky dirt pudding cups are a last-minute Halloween win, made with instant chocolate pudding, crushed Oreos, and gummy worms. They come together in under 20 minutes and are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (3.9 oz) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold whole milk
  • 1 (14.3 oz) package Oreo cookies
  • 1 (4.25 oz) package gummy worms
  • Optional: Halloween candy melt cookies, candy eyeballs, or food-safe plastic skeleton hands for decoration

Instructions

  1. Make the pudding: In a medium mixing bowl, pour the instant chocolate pudding mix. Add the 2 cups of cold milk. Whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes, or until the pudding starts to thicken and is smooth and creamy.
  2. Chill the pudding: Place the bowl of pudding in the refrigerator for at least 10-15 minutes to allow it to set up properly.
  3. Crush the Oreos: Place the entire package of Oreos (cream filling and all) into a large Ziploc bag. Seal it tight, squeezing out as much air as possible. Use a rolling pin, heavy pan, or your fists to crush the cookies into fine crumbs with a few small chunks for texture. Alternatively, use a food processor and pulse until desired consistency.
  4. Layer the cups: Spoon a layer of crushed Oreos (about 2 tablespoons) into the bottom of each cup. Spoon or pipe the chilled chocolate pudding on top, filling the cup about three-quarters full. Top with another generous layer of crushed Oreos.
  5. Add the gummy worms: Gently poke gummy worms into the top layer of Oreo crumb so they look like they’re crawling out of the dirt.
  6. Chill again: Place the assembled cups back in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, to allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to fully set.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Right before serving, add any extra decorations. Serve cold.

Notes

Use cold milk for best results. Don’t over-mix the pudding. Crush Oreos in batches if making a large batch. These cups taste even better the next day. For a cleaner look, pipe the pudding into the cups using a piping bag or Ziploc bag with the corner snipped off. Get creative with the ‘graveyard’ decorations.
